Tips for transfer passengers
If your flights are not booked in a single reservation under one ticket number, please allow enough time for the transfer. Collect your luggage from the baggage claim hall and then go through check-in and security control. Keep up with your airline's check-in schedule.
Please do not hesitate to turn to our blue jacket officers. They are happy to give you assistance.
Fast and easy passport control
Helsinki Airport has Europe's largest line of automatic border control checkpoints. Citizens of EU, EEC member states and Swiss holding biometric passports can use the fast and convenient automatic border control. Skip lines and try it out!
Security control for transfer passengers coming outside the EU
Helsinki Airport follows European Union's (EU) security regulations. This means, that all passengers transferring from non-EU countries to European Union countries, except those from the USA, have to go through a security control.
To ensure a smooth security control, please pack all liquids and sharp items into your baggage going into the hold. You may carry through security control only a few liquids in containers of less than 100 ml.
This rule does not apply to liquids bought at the following airports provided that they are safety packed including a receipt stating the place of purchase:
- Canada international Airports
- Kuala Lumpur Airport in Malesia
- Changi Airport in Singapore
- Dubrovnik, Rijeka, Pula, Split, Zadar and Zagreb Airports in Croatia.

As it is not allowed to take liquids on board other than bought at a European Union airport we recommend you to do your shopping at Helsinki Airport. Products are already security checked and will be packed according to European regulations.
