Go through the winter traveller's checklist now and make your vacation more enjoyable.
For a quick and easy check-in, use the Internet, text messaging or check-in
kiosks at the airport.
Contact your airline for Internet check-in instructions. Check-in kiosks are used as follows.
The Internet and check-in kiosks can also be used when you are travelling with
skis or other baggage to be checked in for transport in the hold of the
aircraft. After you have completed the check-in procedure, take any baggage
being checked in to the baggage drop for your airline.
Also see Pre-check-in from Dropping off baggage.
Some of the airlines offer passengers the possibility for pre-check-in, which
allows the baggage to be brought to the airport already during the previous
evening.
Check if your airline offers the
possibility for pre-check-in.
Do not pack ski waxes that contain fluorine, ski wax removal solvents, heaters,
or anti-icing chemicals. These items are prohibited from being transported on
any aircraft.
Ensure that you haven't left any of these into your ski bag.
Remove all existing old baggage tickets and loose straps.
Tie the straps and other binders together, so that they do not get caught in the
baggage conveyors.
Liquids include shampoos, lotions, gels, aerosols, mascara, toothpastes, and
many foods. Food items include frozen foods, canned foods, and juices, for
example.
You can only take a few liquid packages that are less 100 ml in size through
security control. They need to be packed into a transparent plastic bag. Read
detailed instructions on our website.
Pack all larger liquid packages with baggage to be checked in. Review the packing instructions for alcohol, hair
spray, and hand sanitizers.
Medications or baby formula needed during the flight can be taken through
security control.
After security control, you can purchase all kinds of liquid products at the
airport and take them with you on board the aircraft
Pack scissors, corkscrews, knives, metallic knitting needles, and other cutting
and sharp objects into your baggage to be checked in.
Small nail scissors and wooden and plastic knitting needles can be carried on
board the aircraft with your carry-on baggage.
Transporting torch/cigar lighters, lighter reservoirs and fireworks on board
the aircraft is forbidden.
You are permitted to take one box of matches or a lighter with you in your
pocket into the cabin of the aircraft. Do not pack them with your baggage to be
checked in.
All lighters are completely forbidden on U.S. flights.
A camping stove can be transported in your check-in baggage, if the Trangia
burner (brass cup) is empty and dry. Read more instructions on transporting a Trangia travel stove.
A week of parking at the P3 building of the airport costs only 57 EUR. P3 has
indoor access to the terminal.
Parking at the outdoor parking area (P4) is even more affordable: 39 EUR/week.
The price includes bus transport to the terminal.
Read more about Vacation parking.
Winter clothes can be left at the coat check service (Airpro Travel Services 24
h), which is located on the service level in Terminal 2.

After security control, you can purchase items such as foods, alcohol-free
drinks, fashion products, and electronics to take with you on board the
aircraft.
Domestic travellers can make affordable purchases from all of the gate area
shops, except the ones selling alcohol (Finnair Tax-Free and Helsinki Airport
Duty Free).
Cosmetic products and perfumes are available for sale to domestic travellers at
gate 20 (Airport Shop).
Travellers embarking on international flights may make affordable purchases from
all of the shops at the gate area. They can also purchase alcohol and
cigarettes.
Alcohol and cigarette purchases are duty-free when flying outside of the EU and
to the Canary Islands.
Show all of your tickets to your end destination at the register, so that liquid
products are packed correctly for connecting flights.
For travellers heading to Asia, America, the Middle-East, and non-Schengen
countries (e.g. England, Ireland), there are plenty of shops and restaurants in
the area after passport control.
There is a large duty free shop, electronics, fashion, books, jewellery, gift
items, an extensive restaurant complex, and a spa in the long-haul area.
Use the quick and easy-to-use check-in kiosk for crossing the border. You will only need
a biometric passport. Passengers travelling with wheelchairs or infants must
still pass through traditional border control.
Passports are only inspected when you are travelling via a direct flight to
Asia, America, Africa, the Middle-East, or to so-called non-Schengen countries
(e.g. Great Britain, Ireland).
