Save time: the quickest and shortest way to the departure gate
Check-in on line at your airline's web page or using check-in kiosks.
If you have only hand baggage, you can go straight to the security control. You can take any of the security checkpoints to avoid queuing.
Fast Security is available by advance reservation by on line or by calling 020 708 3117. A fee of EUR 45 is charged for the service.
Check the departure gate of your flight by text message. Enter number 16124, scroll down to the message field and type the following text: FLIGHT space FLIGHTNUMBER space DDMMYY (for example, FLIGHT AY1234 01022010). You will be notified by text message if the departure gate changes after you have sent the enquiry. Price: EUR 1.04/flight. Make sure to check the gate information on airport monitors.
Leave you car in the P1 or P2 parking hall, if you flight departs from Terminal 2. If your flight departs from Terminal 1, park at P3. More information.
Services for VIP customers
As a VIP customer, you do not need to worry about the check-in, security control
or passport checks. Our VIP hostess takes care of the necessary travel
formalities.
Should you so require, you will also be provided assistance in shopping and
currency exchange. While waiting for your flight, you can also treat yourself to
a cup of coffee, refreshments or snacks in the stylish and private ambience of
our VIP facilities. As part of the service, you will also be escorted to you
flight.

Computers and work facilities
Take you laptop with you as hand baggage. When at the security control, remove the computer from your bag and put it in a tray on the conveyor belt at the checkpoint. See also the section on spare batteries.
Helsinki Airport offers unlimited free WI-FI free of charge. When you are in the wireless area, the text "Free WI-FI - Helsinki Airport" appears on the computer screen.
There are three Suvanto lounges by the gates 16-17, 26 and 36. They offer spaces for rest and working with visual protection, tranquil soundspace and charging points for electronic devices and a small table surface. All passengers can use Suvanto free of charge.
If you want to work undisturbed on confidential matters, you can rent a private room at the VIP Centre (for reservations, call +358 20 708 3117).
In addition, the lounges of individual airlines have good working facilities and you can also purchase coupons allowing you access to Tower Lounge (above gate 24) and Finnair Lounge (gate 37).
Computers equipped with Internet connection can also be rented at eService Bar (gate 20).
Mobile phones
When entering the security control, put you mobile phone in your bag or coat
pocket. If carried in trouser pockets or elsewhere in the clothing, the device
may trigger off an unnecessary alarm. See also the section on spare

Wireless charging of mobile phone batteries is available at Cafe Tori,
Restaurant and Deli Fly Inn, Café Alvar A, Seasons Restaurant &

Matches and lighters, batteries
You may only take one box of safety matches or one lighter on board, and it must
be carried in your pocket. Please note that no lighters of any kind are
permitted on flights to and from the United States. Torch cigar lighters and
reserve fuel tanks for lighters are forbidden on board the airplane.
Spare batteries for cameras and other electronic devices may only be carried in
your hand baggage. Devices with batteries installed inside them may be carried
either in your hand baggage or your check-in baggage.
Alcohol and aerosols
No substances or articles that are flammable, toxic or corrosive are permitted on board an aircraft. Such substances and articles are usually equipped with a warning symbol on their packaging.
Please note that alcohol products containing more than 70% alcohol by volume are totally forbidden. Items with an alcohol content of 24-70% by volume may be carried in your check-in baggage, but the total amount is limited to five litres. Items with an alcohol content of less than 24% by volume may be carried in your check-in baggage in accordance with the customs regulations.
Alcoholic beverages must be carried in their original packaging. The packaging label and contents must correspond with one another.
Hairspray bottles of less than 500 millilitres must be put in check-in baggage. Hairspray containers of less than 100 millilitres can, however, be carried as hand baggage. Click here for more detailed instructions on the carrying of liquids.
Purchases made by domestic passengers
Domestic passengers can also make purchases at the shops located in the gate area except for the shops that sell alcohol or tobacco (Finnair Tax-Free and Helsinki Airport Duty Free).
For domestic passengers there are special shops that sell cosmetic and perfumes at gate 20 (Airport Shop).
Passengers travelling to Åland Islands can buy alcoholic beverages and cigarettes duty-free.
Purchases made by international passengers
International passengers can make purchases in the gate area after security
control. They can also buy alcohol and cigarettes .When travelling to a
destination outside the EU, to Canary Islands you can buy alcoholic beverages
and cigarettes duty-free.
The new long-haul area is intended for passengers flying to Asia, Africa, the
Middle East, the United States and the European countries outside the Schengen
area (such as the United Kingdom and Ireland). The area has a large duty-free
shop, shops selling electronic appliances, fashion products and books, a broad
selection of restaurants and a spa.
Passengers changing planes at airports outside Finland should present the
tickets of all legs of their trip at the counter so that the liquid products can
be packed properly for the connecting flights. If you change planes at airports
outside the EU, you should note that different liquid regulations may apply
outside the European Union.
