A unique lounge concept has been launched at Helsinki Airport

The decor and mood of Almost@home makes you feel like you are in a real Finnish home. As opposed to sterile, often grandiose lounges, Almost@home is designed to be a relaxed place to enjoy and get some work done. The idea behind the lounge is to provide a homey rest stop for hurried passengers.

Finnish designer furniture give the Almost@home lounge a very unique feel. The furnishings used are Artek's 2nd Cycle line of recycled furniture, which have been an actual part of the lives of Finnish families for several decades. After being restored, the furnishings are now at the service of international passengers.

”At Helsinki Airport you are almost like at home”, says SSP Finland Managing Director Kalle Ruuskanen, who was responsible for realising the lounge concept.

Home-like surroundings are perfect for relaxing and working. The heart of the lounge is kitchen. You can chill out in the library or living room. Enjoy your meal in a cosy dining room or work in your private office. A practical meeting room can be booked from Sales office.

There are separate rooms for families and entertainment and naturally bathroom with shower for refreshing. Almost@home lounge is open every day. The lounge is open to airline loyalty cardholders, and other passengers may use the lounge for a fee.

Almost@home is a living art gallery and a second cycle furniture expo. If you find a piece of furniture or decorative item that you like, you can actually purchase it for yourself.

Helsinki Airport lounges have received a number of awards for their services. Most recently, the Finnair Lounge was chosen the best Priority Pass Lounge of the Year 2011 out of a field of 600. The award is based on over 40,000 ratings made by Priority Pass members from all over the world.
