Flybe launches new routes from HelsinkiThe newest airline to begin service in Finland, Flybe, is expanding its network to increase the number of flying Finns. Flybe will launch four new routes from Helsinki. Europe’s largest regional airline, Flybe, entered the Finnish market with the joint acquisition of Finnish Commuter Airlines (Finncomm) with Finnair. The acquisition was approved by competition authorities on August 2011. As an extension of the new deal, Flybe will be launching eight new routes from Finland at the end of October, four of which fly out of Helsinki Airport. - Expanding regular airline services improves both the international accessibility of provincial airports and Helsinki Airport's role as the number one transit airport in Northern Europe, says Kimmo Ruotsalainen, Finavia's Marketing Director. Passengers can conveniently fly from Helsinki to Trondheim four times a week and direct flights from Helsinki to Tartu six times a week will provide a much-needed link to Estonia’s beautiful second city. Flybe’s double daily service between Mariehamn and Helsinki is expected to be especially popular with those passengers wanting to travel to destinations across the world, with onward, ‘seamless’ travel with Flybe’s codeshare partner, Finnair. Flybe’s new route from Umea to Helsinki, which flies four times a week, offers travellers the real convenience of flying direct to the Finnish capital without having to make connections in Stockholm, saving both time and money. - Our joint vision is for Flybe to become the leading regional airline for the Nordic and Baltic regions. We expect the new brand to become quickly established and recognised as the airline of choice for both leisure and business travel, says Mike Rutter, Flybe's Chief Commercial Officer. |
