The best lounge in the world is at Helsinki Airport

"We focus on providing experiential services and smooth travel experience in the design of Helsinki Airport. The award proves that we have succeeded in our work. This recognition strengthens Helsinki Airport's position as a leading Nordic hub for long haul traffic", explains Airport Director Juha-Pekka Pystynen of Helsinki Airport.

The lounge is a veritable showcase of Finnish design. Its furnishings were provided by Finnish company Isku Interior Oy and the lighting fixtures were designed by Eero Aarnio, famous Finnish designer. The elegant and modern lounge accommodates 250 guests.

The award-winning lounge and the near-by spa are located by the gates 36-37 in the long haul flights area extention, which was opened in December 2009.

The Finnair Lounge is open to all Finnair and oneworld level and business class passengers. Other passengers may patronise the lounge for a fee. Lounge services are provided by Finnair and SSP Finland Oy.

This is the first time that a lounge outside the United States has won during the seven year history of the award.
