Dragon shows and Finnish-Chinese music entertain passengers at Helsinki Airport

Helsinki Airport together with its home carrier Finnair celebrates the Chinese New Year. Passengers travelling between Asia and Europe will be entertained every day from 23 January to 9 February with an impressive show, among other things.

"We'll be spending the theme week celebrating not only the Chinese New Year, but also Helsinki Airport's success in service between Asia and Europe,” says Mr. Kimmo Ruotsalainen, SVP and Marketing Director of the Finnish Airport Operator Finavia Corporation.

Last year, 15 million passengers passed through Helsinki Airport of whom 1.7 Million travelled to Asia. The 15.5% growth in passenger volume made Helsinki Airport the strongest of all transit airports in Northern Europe. Mr. Ruotsalainen believes that the growth will also continue in the future.

”We are investing heavily in smooth travelling and doing everything we can to maintain our leadership. The Chinese New Year program is an example of Helsinki Airport’s goal to develop the service environment and passenger comfort. These are also the kinds of events that are desired by the Quality Hunters, through which we gather feedback and ideas on how to improve air travel,” says Mr. Ruotsalainen.

In addition to traditional decorations, daily shows, such as dragon dances, Finnish-Chinese dance performances, live music, etc. will be performed during the Chinese New Year celebrations. Passengers may also enjoy tasty Asian stir-fry dishes and other specialties at the restaurant in the long-haul area. The programme of events and locations can be found on the Helsinki Airport website at www.helsinkiairport.fi.
