The Portraits of Aviation photography exhibition has opened at Helsinki Airport
The subject of aviation photography is traditionally aircraft and flight. This time, six Finnish portrait photographers have eagerly approached the theme of aviation where people are the central element. The Portraits of Aviation photography exhibition will run until next June at Helsinki Airport.
Mikaela Löfroth of Hämeenlinna, Peero Lakanen and Sami Reivinen of Tampere, and Petra Tiihonen, Sami Tirkkonen and Tiina Mickelsson of Kuopio have all produced pieces inspired by the World Design Capital year.
Their portraits depict aviation in a whole new way. The motifs include the glamour of aviation, vintage style and futurism.
The Helsinki Airport photography exhibition will be showing the work of six Finnish portrait artists from January to June, 2012.The exhibition locates in terminal 2, arrivals floor. It is open for all visitors.
The works on exhibit are part of the Helsinki Airport's permanent aviation-themed exhibition as well as the airport's World Design Capital programme of events. The exhibition is hosted by Finavia, Finnair, Aviation Writers of Finland, Kamera magazine, Dialab and Epson.
