Security control line for special-needs passengers to open at Helsinki Airport

This summer, Finavia is investing in making travel a smooth experience by improving, among others, services for families with children. In July a security control line for families travelling with infants and other special-needs groups will be opened. We have also made preparations for the arrival of holidaymakers by updating playrooms and adding courtesy strollers.

"We started working on improving the smooth flow of security control already this spring. For example, the queuing method has been changed, thus cutting security control waiting times considerably.  Even during rush periods, passengers can now make it through security control in less than 15 minutes," promises Airport Director Juha-Pekka Pystynen of Finavia.

Pystynen reminds passengers that they can make their security control process a smoother one by reading up on security regulations and packing their bags correctly before arriving at the airport.

This summer, the Airport has given special attention to the needs of families with children.  An example of this is the security control line especially intended for families with children under 2 years of age, which will be opened in July.  This line may also be used by other special-needs groups, such as the elderly and other passengers requiring assistance.

The convenience of families with children waiting for a flight is enhanced by Helsinki Airport's fun play areas and well-equipped children's rooms, which offer drawing supplies, toys and videos as well as changing tables and microwave ovens for heating baby food. The play areas are located at Gates 38 and 16 and children's rooms at Gates 31 and 20. Take a look at the locations.

We have prepared for the arrival of holidaymakers and families with children in a variety of ways. Among other amenities, we have increased the number of courtesy strollers. Another new feature is the designer waiting area by Punkalive, where both parents and kids can spend their time, savouring the excitement of their trip. This charming waiting area will be open during the summer at Gate 18.
