Support for children in developing countries

Finnish airport administration Finavia Corporation supports Helsinki Airport in its co-operation with Plan Finland, a development co-operation organisation.

Green 'Pastille' collection

Since the beginning of 2008, passengers have had the opportunity to donate coins left over from their travels in 'Pastille' collection receptacles designed by designer Eero Aarnio.

The joint Finavia and Plan fundraiser collected a total of EUR 43,000 by May 2011. The monies collected are used to meet the daily needs of children in developing countries.

There are four bright green Pastille collection receptacles, three of which are located airside and one in Arrivals Hall 2B.

Help by recycling

Since June 2011, passengers have been able to place their empty bottles and cans in Plan collection receptacles, from which they are taken for recycling in the Finnish bottle return system. Empty beverage containers can be placed in the collection receptacles located just in front of the security control checkpoints.

The deposit proceeds taken from the returns are donated to Plan toward promoting the welfare of children all over the world.
