Watch the video from YouTube: Modern Baggage Handling at Helsinki Airport

The video is made by the baggage handling system supplier Crisplant.

The new baggage centre was opened for service in December 2009.
The baggage centre's processing system is based on state-of-the-art technologies employed at major international airports.

An additional 20,000 square meters of space is available for handling and sorting baggage. The overall length of the baggage handling system is over 10 kilometres and its peak capacity is 7,000 bags an hour.

Thanks to the extra space and modern technology, Helsinki Airport can now process 13.5 million bags in a year which is 43 % more than before.

In Skytrax World Airport Awards 2009 survey Helsinki Airport was named the best airport in the world for baggage delivery services. Over 190 airports all over the world participated in the survey.
