Guidelines for packing

When travelling by air, only pack in your luggage items and substances that are permitted aboard aircraft under the security guidelines.

The guidelines are based on EU regulations and international air traffic regulations, which are available on Finnish Civil Aviation Authority website.

If you have prohibited substances and items in your hand baggage or baggage going into the hold, they will have to be removed and destroyed at security control.

Before packing be sure to also observe baggage size and weight restrictions.

There are limitations and prohibitions concerning the export of some products. For more information, please consult the Finnish Customs website.

General guidelines

Remove all previous baggage tags from suitcases going into the cargo hold. Lock the carry handles. Tie together any straps on bags or backpacks so that they do not become tangled in the baggage conveyors. Pack strollers going into the cargo hold in a protective bag.

You can leave items, for example a winter coat, at airports’ storage facilities. For location and contacs of storage facilites, go to service map.
